Black Town Homecoming Project

The Black Town Homecoming Project is a pilot initiative honoring the rich history of Oklahoma’s historic Black towns of Tullahassee, Taft, and Rentiesville while supporting pathways for cultural tourism and economic development. Through storytelling, cultural experiences, and revitalization strategies, the project celebrates themes of homecoming, civil rights, resilience, and entrepreneurship.

So8th: A Community Vision

Open Design worked alongside community members to develop OKC’s first cultural master site plan, urban design plan, and reparative justice guide for NEOKC neighborhoods that were impacted by urban renewal practices.

Culture Park

Open Design is working alongside neighbors to design + build of NEOKC’s first community greenspace designed to combat environmental, economic, and health challenges in the historic JFK neighborhood.

Brockway Center & Lyons Mansion: Reuse Feasibility Study

Open Design led a community visioning and co-design effort to inform and guide adaptive reuse and cultural programming strategies for the historic Brockway Center and Lyons-Luster Mansion
